Step to Step Factory Default of OpenWrt Device with three Different simple methods

How to Factory Reset of OpenWrt with Telnet.

Factory default of openwrt is very simple and easy process  .

There are many way to making default reset of OpenWrt powered devices.

1. OpenWrt Hard Reset with reset button

2. OpenWrt Hard Reset with telnet commands

3. OpenWrt soft reset with web interface.


1.  Hard Reset with Reset button :

For  reset button factory default OpenWrt  follow given steps.

Step 1:  Power on PCB

Step 2: connect Lan port to PC/Laptop.

Step 3: Now press reset button and count 10 second .release reset button in 11 second.


Step 4: network connection will unpluged and again pluged  .

Step 5:  go to command promt and ping 192.168.1.1 




Step 6: you can open device with web interface and reconfigure with new settings



2. OpenWrt Hard Reset with telnet commands

Step 1:  Power off Device

Step 2: connect Lan port to PC/Laptop.

Step 3: open Command Promt and "ping 192.168.1.1."

Step 4: now power on device and in same time start continue pressing reset button till you got 192.168.1.1 ping

Step 5: if you get ping then open cmd and "telnet 192.168.1.1".

Step 6: use command  " mtd -r erase rootfs_data"    press enter

After Rebooting deving you can open in web interface.




3. OpenWrt soft reset with web interface.

Step 1:  Power on Device

Step 2: Open http://192.168.1.1 In web browser Login Openwrt Powered Device

Step 3: Go to System --> Backup and Flash Firmware"

Step 4: Click  "Perform Reset" 

Step 5: Click ok for confirmation reset process.

Step 6: reopen 192.168.1.1 and reconfigure again
